Our Promise to You: Your base bike Warranty

At base bikes, we stand behind the products we sell. This page explains the warranty we provide for base bikes products, how warranty claims work for third-party accessories, and your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

base bikes bicycles

Frame and fork warranty

base bikes frames and rigid forks are covered by a five-year warranty against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship.

Components and parts warranty

Other original components and parts supplied with a base bike are covered by a two-year warranty against manufacturing defects from the date of purchase, excluding wear-and-tear items.

This includes items such as handlebars, seat posts, cranks and other non-wearable parts.

Wear-and-tear items

Wear and tear items such as tyres, tubes, brake pads, cables, and chains are not covered under the warranty. These parts are subject to regular maintenance and replacement due to normal use.

base bikes accessories

base bikes-branded accessories are covered by a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship from the date of purchase, unless a different warranty period is stated on the product page or product packaging.

This warranty is intended to cover manufacturing defects. It does not usually apply to issues caused by normal use, wear and tear, misuse, modification, or use with products the accessory was not designed to fit.

Third-party accessories

Some accessories sold by base bikes are made by other brands. For example, Giro products are covered by Giro’s 12-month manufacturer’s warranty against defects in materials and workmanship from the date of purchase.

Manufacturer warranties are in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

If you purchased the product from base bikes, please contact us and we’ll handle your warranty claim in the usual way.

base bikes does not provide an additional warranty for third-party accessories unless this is expressly stated on the product page.

Warranty conditions

To help us assess a claim, we may ask for:

  • proof of purchase;
  • photos or video of the issue;
  • a description of how the product was used, fitted or maintained;
  • return of the product if inspection is required.

The voluntary base bikes warranty applies to the original purchaser and is not transferable.

What is not covered by our warranty

Our warranty does not cover damage or issues caused by:

    • Misuse or abuse, such as jumping, stunt riding, or competitive events.
    • Improper assembly or maintenance. Assembly and regular maintenance as per the bike's user manual is required to keep the warranty valid.
    • Installation of parts or accessories not originally intended or compatible with the bike as sold.
    • Normal wear and tear, corrosion, cosmetic damage or accidents.

    These exclusions apply to our warranty only and do not limit your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

    How to make a claim

    Please email us at contactus@basebikes.com.au with your order number, a description of the issue, and photos or video if possible.

    We will usually respond within one to two business days.

    For claims under our voluntary warranty, we will determine the appropriate remedy. This does not limit your rights under Australian Consumer Law, including your rights where there is a major failure.

    Where a valid warranty or consumer guarantee claim requires a return or replacement shipment, base bikes will cover reasonable shipping costs.

    Australian Consumer Law

    Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

    You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.

    You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
