Why Kids (and Parents) Love it

Easy to Ride, Ready to Explore

The base 24 is designed to help growing riders feel confident, capable and in control as they start riding further and exploring more places.

A lightweight frame, stable geometry and child-focused contact points make it easier to handle than many heavier 24 inch bikes. That means less fatigue, easier manoeuvring and more confidence on longer family rides.

It’s perfect for families who ride a mix of surfaces: sealed paths, gravel trails, parks, school commutes and weekend adventures.

Lightweight, only 9.5kg

At only 9.5 kg including pedals, the base 24 keeps weight low without stripping away the features older kids need.

That matters because a lighter bike is easier to push off, steer, lift, control and ride for longer. For parents, it also makes the bike easier to load into the car, lift onto a rack or carry when the ride does not quite go to plan.

Geared up

With 8 smooth kid-friendly gears and a wide-range cassette, kids can climb hills more easily, ride comfortably on the flats and keep pedalling on the downhills without their legs spinning too fast.

It has the features kids need, without the ones they don’t. Made for the riding most families actually do: going further, exploring new places and building skills with confidence.

Hydraulic Disc Brakes

Bigger riders, longer rides and mixed surfaces call for reliable stopping power.

The base 24 is fitted with Tektro hydraulic disc brakes, giving smooth, controlled braking in a wide range of conditions. Compared with basic cable brakes, hydraulic disc brakes offer strong stopping performance with less hand effort — a big advantage when kids are riding further, faster and on more varied surfaces.

Stable, Capable and Kid-Focused

The base 24 is designed to feel planted and predictable, not twitchy or awkward.

It gives growing riders room to move, confidence when cornering and control when the surface changes. The geometry is intended to support a comfortable, slightly more capable riding position for kids who are ready to ride beyond the footpath.

Grows With Them

Kids grow quickly, so the base 24 is designed with adjustability in mind.

The saddle height can be adjusted as your child grows, while the handlebar position can be fine-tuned to help optimise comfort and control over time.

That means a better fit, a longer useful life and a bike that can be passed down, resold or kept ready for the next adventure.

Built to Last

The base 24 is made for plenty of use.

With a lightweight alloy frame, sealed bottom bracket, quality drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes, it is built to ride better, last longer and hold its value better than a heavy, disposable kids bike.

More Information

Detailed Description

Frameset

The base 24 is built around a lightweight aluminium frame and rigid fork to keep the bike efficient, responsive and easy to control.

A rigid fork is a deliberate choice. For most young riders, a light, simple and well-designed rigid bike is a better fit than a heavy suspension bike that adds weight, complexity and maintenance without much benefit on everyday family rides.

The total bike weight is 9.5 kg including pedals.

Wheels and Tyres

Super lightweight alloy rims with durable stainless steel spokes to prevent rust and Australian Standard compliant Cateye reflectors on each wheel.

Kenda Small Block 24*1.95 inch tyres,
chosen for low rolling resistance on paved paths with enough grip for gravel, parks and light trail use.

8-Speed Microshift Acolyte Drivetrain

The base 24 is equipped with a Microshift Acolyte 8-speed drivetrain and wide-range 11–38T cassette.

That gives young riders a useful spread of gears for climbing, cruising and riding longer distances. The Microshift trigger shifter is simple, positive and intuitive, helping kids build confidence as they learn when and how to change gears.

The Super Short Cage Acolyte derailleur is designed for smaller wheels and keeps the drivetrain tucked further away from knocks than a longer derailleur.

The Microshift Acolyte SpringLock derailleur helps improve chain security over rougher surfaces.

For family riding, that means less chain slap, better chain control and a more confident feel when kids move from smooth pavement to gravel, compact dirt or bumpier paths.

Drivetrain

The base 24 uses a sealed bottom bracket for durability and smooth pedalling, paired with a 28T chainwheel and 130 mm cranks sized for growing riders.

The single-chainring setup keeps things simple: no front derailleur, no confusing left-hand shifting, and fewer moving parts for kids to think about. The double-sided chain guard helps protect clothing and reduce chain contact, while the wide-range rear cassette gives riders the gears they need for climbing, cruising and longer rides without adding unnecessary complexity.

Saddle

The base 24 saddle is sized for growing riders and designed for comfort on longer family rides.

With an adjustable seat height from 62 cm to 79 cm, the base 24 can be dialled in as your child grows, helping them ride comfortably and confidently as their skills develop.

The seat post also has a clear, minimum insertion line to keep safety a priority.

Handlebars

The base 24 uses 580 mm wide handlebars to give growing riders confident control without feeling oversized or awkward.

The lock-on grips stay securely in place and are designed to feel comfortable in smaller hands, helping reduce fatigue and giving the bike a more solid, confidence-inspiring feel on longer rides and varied surfaces.

A bell and front (and rear) reflectors are included and arrive already attached.

Headset and Stem

A NECO 28.6 mm threadless headset with sealed bearings for durability, designed to withstand the rugged Australian outdoors.

A lightweight stem with 40 mm extension and 3-degree rise, ensuring a secure connection between the handlebars and the headset with a sleek, rounded design.

Brakes

The base 24 is fitted with Tektro HD-M280 hydraulic disc brakes and 160 mm rotors for powerful, controlled stopping.

Hydraulic disc brakes are a strong choice for older kids because they provide consistent braking across a range of conditions, with smooth lever feel and strong stopping power.

This is especially helpful as riders get bigger, ride faster and start exploring more varied surfaces.

Bike size guide

The base 24 is generally ideal for kids aged 7.5 to 11 years, or between 125cm and 145cm tall.

We recommend a minimum inseam of 58cm, but for new or cautious riders, or if you are intending to use the pedal bike in balance bike mode initially (without the pedals), an inseam of at least 61cm will offer more comfort and confidence.
