We bought this for our grandson’s 3rd birthday. He loved his balance bike but was beginning to ask each time he went out on it if he could have a peddle bike. He was so thrilled to get this bike. He chose the colour and was waiting eagerly. He did not hesitate to get on and take off though he did need us to help him coordinate everything on the first day. The second day he was away on his own and had mastered the break. The trickiest part for him has been taking off but on the third riding day he could even do this independently some of the time. It is a lovely bike and we expect it will last him a few good years as it is currently in the lowest position. It is a great fit for him as he can get his feet down easily and he was able to manage the bike easily push it along independently. He was a little obsessed with the bell. He continuously fiddled with it and it fell off. We lost an integral bit of it, and so he is currently riding without a working bell but this has been the only issue we have had since getting the bike. He loves his new bike!

She literally learnt to ride within 20 min. Makes my life as a parent so much easier.

Our kids started riding by 3 years old. Our 3.5 daughter just moved up to the base bike 16 and she loves it! It's so light yet well built. So impressive, and really great value.

If your kids love riding (and you don't want coaster brake!), there is no better bike for them, made here right in Australia too.

I'm thoroughly impressed with Adam's service – he's top-notch! When I was worried about the bike arriving late for my daughter's birthday, Adam went above and beyond to ensure it got delivered on time. He kept me updated on the delivery status and even chased the courier company to make sure everything went smoothly. Thanks to him, the bike arrived just in time!

The assembly process was a breeze. The team at Base Bikes had already done most of the work, so all I had to do was tighten the handlebars and attach the pedals. The bike itself is a significant upgrade from my daughter's previous one, which she'd had for two years.

This new bike is bigger, but it's also noticeably lighter and feels like a proper bike, not just a toy. The quality components make a big difference, and my daughter was confident and proficient on it from the start. She couldn't wait to ride it!

Overall, I'd say the bike and the service from Base Bikes are unbeatable.

Purchased this bike for my daughter to learn to ride. It’s been perfect and she loves riding it. I especially love the ability to remove the pedals and use it as a balance bike to get her used to the hand brakes and riding first. Also love how lightweight it is and easy to maneuver!

We discovered Base bikes through a community bike riding session. My 5-year-old said he’d never ridden such an “amazing” bike. It was his first time using gears but they seemed really easy to change up and down. And my 3-year-old finally got the courage to try riding on two wheels, and is now confidently keeping up with his brother. Thanks Base bikes!

We are all very impressed with our Base 20 bike - it is lightweight with a geometry that means it can be ridden confidently by kids at the lower end of the size guide safely. The gear shifter is unobtrusive, so children can set it and go, or change while riding.

Our child stepped up to the 20in bike from a 14in bike they had been riding for a year, aged 4.5. The transition was smooth and now we can’t keep up with them on foot anymore!

This bike has everything you would want in a bike for a child, and it is certainly a proper bike and not a toy bike!

It was so easy to set up out of the box and required no adjusting at all. I would recommend this bike to anyone who wants a high quality bike that will last a long time and help their child develop their cycling skills.

We have a 4 yesr old with motor planning and coordination issues. We needed a very lightweight bike that would take minimal effort to propel forwards, and that could take training wheels, and went for a Base bike. Rang Adam at base bikes to check the bike could take training wheels, and he was so helpful- even sent us a photo of the type of training wheels he knew would work. Our son loves his super cool green 16inch - he's quite tall (115cm) but it is perfect for him as he feels low to the ground and still plenty of room to pedal. He's refused to even try bikes in the past- we are practicing daily on this one, and can see that he will get there. Amazing!

My son (5 1/2 years old) received the bike for Christmas and instantly felt confident and comfortable riding it (this has not always been our experience with other bikes). Proper brakes and gears, lightweight and really looks great. He has the best bike in the family!!

I'm so glad base bikes have finally addressed the gap in the market for a truly lightweight bike that doesn't have a pedal brake. My daughter is not at all a confident rider, however she has taken to the base bike really well. Love that there is an option to take the pedals off as well so she can practice with it in balance bike mode. Her only criticism was that it doesn't come in pink, but a sticker kit fixed that! We did get a set of generic training wheels to add to it which fit no worries, however I don't think we'll need them for long.

Lightweight, high quality all round and basically ready to roll out of the box.
Clearly a lot of thought and effort has gone into getting this right. Keep up the good work.
